What if someone is talking to you and not making eye contact, but looking beyond you, over your shoulder?
Is this a hypnosis technique?
I talked to this guy one time and he would not look me in the eye the whole time. He looked towards me, but never at my eyes. He was a gay guy that was trying to seduce me, I’m serious. The whole time, he seemed to be focused on a point just over my shoulder. It was weird. Is this a technique that salesmen, con men, and hypnotists use? If it is a hypnosis technique, why does it work?

Many people look slightly up and to one side when talking, they are accessing their memory. This is very common among English people. It has nothing to do with sincerity.
lol i do that too. i don’t necesarily look at a person straight in the eye when i talk to them. but when THEY talk to me, i always look at them, cause otherwise they may think i’m not listening. lol
I have no idea if it is a hypnosis technique. People with Autism have what is called ‘gaze aversion’, which means they do not normally look people in the eye when they speak to them, which gives people the impression that the person with Autism is looking ‘through’ them. Some people who are quite normal can have gaze aversion as well.
If you don’t want to be seduced, then get out of there.
Maybe its nothing more than a habit. If hes your freind, try jumping up and moving in the direction of his stare. He may laugh and stop doing it.
