The Signs Of Procrastinating About Losing Weight
Do you agree that losing weight is one of the biggest things we procrastinate about? Or is it the thought of being deprived?
Well it can be both of those. There is a lot of work involved in losing weight. Maybe you just don’t want to put that much effort in to be healthy and will probably die at an earlier age!
We may only guess why we procrastinate about losing weight. It doesn’t necessarily mean that we are lazy. The stress of procrastination alone can force us to overeat or not take the time to exercise. Are we are setting ourselves up for failure before we ever begin?
If the weight loss industry is booming, then why is obesity the second largest cause of death next to smoking? We obviously support these businesses or they wouldn’t still be around. Yet there are more obese children now than there has ever been. Sad, but true.
The term “losing weight” can also include getting healthy. The realization that not everything we eat, no matter what the package says, is not good for you. It is recommended that you have 5 servings of fruits and veggies a day but does carrot cake count as a serving? Or how about the cherry in Cherry Coke? When you can have those yummy things, why not procrastinate about starting a serious weight loss plan?
Another reason that we procrastinate about losing weight is that it is just too easy to overeat. The “All-You-Can-Eat Buffets, portion sizes, and skipping meals are all causes of overeating. Then we go into procrastination mode. Either you tell yourself that you will start tomorrow or just continue tomorrow with eating healthier and in correct proportions, or so you say.
Obesity and the health risks it causes should be enough to stop procrastinating and take action. Most of the time procrastination is the stronger mindset. This is especially true when you are a chronic procrastinator in other areas of your life such as in housework, organization, and being on time for events.
Procrastination is a defense mechanism to keep from being a failure. Put things off so you don’t have to deal with them approach that can drive not only each of us, but our friends and family nuts too.
There are three things that will start you on the road to getting healthier and losing weight. Nothing you have to buy or rent. These are inside of you, if you want. They are:
1.Motivation – the why or why not that gets you going. We often set goals and use them as motivational tools in order to want to lose weight.
2.Passion – yes, you have to love what you are doing with strong conviction.
3.Focus – know where you going and how you are going to get there. In weight loss you can focus on how much better you will not only look but feel also.
These three inner strengths will bring you to the goals you have set. Procrastination doesn’t stand a chance when you incorporate motivation, passion, and focus to your lifestyle.
Once the process has started and you are seeing results, make sure that you don’t let procrastination sabotage the progress you have made. Stay motivated, have passion, and focus in on what is important to you, your health
