This is my first pregnancy so I have no frame of reference of my own&#8230; I just don&#8217;t like the idea of the epidural and the possible side effects &#8211; also it increases the chances of needing an episiotomy, another thing I really want to avoid if possible. Again, I was reading that natural tears generally heal easier and faster.</p>

Since then, I hear people who quit smoking for ten years talk about how they started up again, which I find so discouraging.  My cravings have not stopped for this entire three years!  How much longer will I have them?  I do have a glass of iced tea or water with me at all times to sip and distract me.  I am also trying to lose the weight I gained since quitting, and it&#8217;s much more difficult dieting without the oral crutch of cigarettes.</p>
<p>For the past four days, I guess the stress of these cravings is starting to get to me.  It is all I can do to go from hour to hour without getting on the phone and ordering food and having the delivery person pick me up some ciggs. Maybe I need some kind of  refresher course.  Another hypnosis session maybe?   They say these cravings now are psychological, but they sure seem physical to me.  I did smoke for a long time, so maybe that has something to do with long term cravings. </p>

<p>How much would you love to be able to eat the foods you love without fear or guilt and never, ever, ever, ever have to worry about dieting again?</p>

<p>You can.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>I&#8217;m sure by now you already know that dieting has failed you. That&#8217;s because your excess weight is not due to lack of self control or laziness. It&#8217;s just a symptom of another problem which is rooted in your emotions and diets fail to address your feelings. If you are overeating because you&#8217;re seeking out food for comfort, then you are not alone. Many women who have histories of abuse have found comfort in food.</p>
<p><span id="more-748"></span></p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>You may have already thought that you handled your abuse years ago by talking to a therapist or taking a more traditional route to healing, however the excess weight you carry may just be the last vestige of evidence of your abuse. Deep down, you may be  conflicted, feeling the need to hold onto excess weight in order to feel safe. This could be the core of the reason why you may not have had success with dieting. Your subconscious mind has been responding to your brain&#8217;s messages that you needed to continue to insulate yourself from hurt and protect yourself.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Speaking as a woman who is an abuse survivor, I&#8217;ve learned that it is possible to change your relationship to food and your body and in so doing love yourself more than ever.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>However in order to successfully stop dieting, it is essential to focus on releasing negative emotions from the past and combine that with a non diet approach to food called Intuitive Eating.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Intuitive Eating is a term first used by registered dieticians Elyse Resch and Evelyn Tribole to describe a natural process that we all have to listen to our bodies, eat when we are hungry and stop when we are satisfied.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>However after years of negative reinforcement programming from dieting, you may have learned to mistrust yourself around food and hate your body, thinking of certain foods as either good or bad and judging yourself harshly for wanting to eat.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Despite that negative conditioning, you can relearn how to trust your body. After all, it&#8217;s already taking care of you in so many ways. It tells you when you need to relieve your bladder, regulates your heart beat, blood circulation and sleep rhythms, and so much more. Face it. Your body is miraculous and once you begin to learn to listen to it, you will naturally eat less and eventually return back to a normal weight that is perfect for you.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Getting there is a two step process. You have to legalize all foods and eliminate feelings of deprivation by dealing with the emotions that crop up when you want to turn to food when you&#8217;re not hungry.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>The toughest part is to resist the urge to fall back into the old habit of eating when you&#8217;re overcome by emotions.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>As a survivor of abuse, your brain made a connection that food=love. Therefore, any time that you feel pressured, anxious, upset or unloved, your brain sends signals to your body to seek out food.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>As a coach, I tend to favor using the Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT. EFT will break this subconscious connection and puts the power of choice and control back in your hands. You don&#8217;t have to rely on anyone else.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>EFT is based on the science of Acupuncture and often considered to be it&#8217;s emotional equivalent without the pain of needles. Anyone can use it anytime to balance their energy, feel better and overcome negative emotions in minutes.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Now without further ado, here are 9 steps you can take to lose weight naturally and effortlessly without dieting.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Step #1: Say Goodbye to Dieting. Toss out the old diet books, stop counting calories, points, carbs or fat grams and get rid of your scale. You are going to learn to rely on your body to gauge what is right for you. No more diets.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Step #2: Pack Your pantry and stock your fridge.  The battle is over. Give yourself unconditional permission to eat what you want. By doing this, you will quickly develop new abilities to be discriminating.  You will soon learn that you truly can trust yourself with all foods.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Step #3: Eat only when you are physically hungry. By waiting to eat until you are hungry, you will be able to tune in and discover how satisfying your food can really be. It also reinforces the message that you are in control of your food.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Step #4: Eat without guilt. Take back your sense of self by setting a new precedent. Eat what you want in full view of other people, let critics know that they have no right to comment on your body or what you eat.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Step #5: Feel Your Fullness   Listen to your body and become sensitive to the new sensation of a gentle feeling of satisfaction and fullness. You might like to pause in the middle of a meal and ask yourself how satisfying the food tastes to you and gauge your level of comfort.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Step #6: Rediscover the Satisfaction Factor in your food   When you eat what you want, in a pleasing environment, your satisfaction will be enhanced. As you gain more pleasure in food, you will naturally find that you eat smaller portions. Feast all your senses. Smell, taste, touch and fully enjoy your meals.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Step #7: Cope With Your Emotions Without Abusing Food   When you realize that you want food, and you&#8217;re not hungry, explore your feelings and address them without food. I call this questioning your phantom hungers.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Step #8: Be Gentle With Your Body  Respect your body and realize that this is a process that will take some time to learn. It&#8217;s important to question your old negative black and white thinking to reduce the stress load in your life.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Step #9: Get Support  Join a group of like-minded women also on the road to losing weight without dieting. Share resources, encourage and support one another as you learn new techniques and strategies to love yourself more and yummy up your life one bite at a time.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>

<p>With so many diets on the market, you&#8217;d think people could lose weight and keep it off. The most effective weight loss plan is to stop cravings and stop overeating. This can be done by changing your relationship to food. Then choose a more healthy way to lose weight.</p>
<p>You will need to make lifestyle changes to be successful, but that&#8217;s not a bad thing and isn&#8217;t hard to do. By learning to stop cravings for the wrong food, you can stop putting on those extra pounds. Learning to control compulsive eating or emotional eating is equally important.</p>
<p><span id="more-659"></span></p>
<p>Being drawn to the desert tray is one habit you need to control, but that&#8217;s a small sacrifice for good health and maintaining your weight. Learning to control compulsive eating or eating when you&#8217;re sad or upset is another habit to eliminate, but here again, it isn&#8217;t that difficult once you learn how.</p>
<p>Healthy dieting means not dieting at all, but changing your lifestyle to a healthier way of eating and maintaining your weight. It doesn&#8217;t mean sacrificing, it means making better decisions when it comes to eating. This is the answer of how to lose weight without dieting. This means changing your relationship with food and the way you think about food.</p>
<p>About 30 years ago I made the decision to stop smoking once and for all. I tried to stop smoking so many times before, but without success. I found a book written by Dr. Maxwell Maltz titled, &#8220;Psycho-Cybernetics.&#8221; Dr. Maltz was a plastic surgeon and was always puzzeled by the fact he could change peoples appearances, but couldn&#8217;t change what they thought about themselves.</p>
<p>He decided to learn hypnosis to see if he could teach people how to change the way they saw themselves by changing their sub-conscious minds and what they believed to be true about themselves. We really have two minds, the conscious and sub-conscious mind. It would take several pages to go into this in depth, but I recommend you get a copy of Dr. Maltz&#8217;s book.</p>
<p>The point is that by changing your beliefs about food, you can stop cravings, stop compulsive eating and other bad habits that cause you to overeat. When you stop overeating and stop cravings, you can lose weight without dieting.</p>
<p>If you stop cravings and compulsive eating, it is easier to find an effective weight loss plan. Choose a healthy way to lose weight by learning about portion sizes, how much exercise you need to do to lose weight and how many calories you need to cut or burn off in order to lose the weight you want to lose. Be careful of weight loss tips you find on the internet that suggest fast and easy ways to lose weight. All weight loss tips are not valid or safe.</p>
<p>You will need to do some exercise to lose weight, but you don&#8217;t have to kill yourself to do so. Many people use walking to lose weight. Walking is a good start, but you will need to walk fast enough and far enough to lose weight. I do 3 or 4 13 minute miles 5 or 6 days a week to lose weight and keep it off. <p>With the New Year coming on us, millions of people will be making the resolution to lose weight and get healthy for the next year. </p>
<p>
<p> In 1970 Americans spent $20 Billion Dollars each year on weight loss products. Today, Americans spend over $40 Billion Dollars each year. According to the CDC, obesity has more than doubled since that time. From 15% of adults to 33% of adults.</p>

<p>A government study confirmed that 95% of diets fail within 3 years.</p>
<p>
<p>So the questions are, “Why do diets and intense exercise fail for most?” And, “What is the solution?”</p>
<p>
<p>As a Sports Nutritionist and Personal Trainer, I can tell you why diets are physically damaging.</p>
<p>
<p>As a Clinical Hypnotherapist, I can tell you why diets are psychologically damaging. As a man with many years of experience working with people of all backgrounds and sizes, but all of whom share the same struggles; I can tell you what the solution is.</p>
<p>
<p>For most people who struggle with their weight, diets and exercise programs are like treating cancer with pain medications. They alleviate the symptoms, but do nothing to address the source.</p>
<p>The vast majority of people who struggle with their weight have been preprogrammed at a very early age to struggle with their weight.
<p> </p>
<p>They’ve been programmed by their parents, comments, traumatic experiences, advertisements, and one of the biggest is the notion of having to diet and exercise hard in order to lose weight.</p>
<p> </p>
<p> The solution is to change a person’s automatic actions. The actions they take on a daily basis that they don’t even think about.</p>
<p> </p>
<p> About 90% of what we do on a daily basis is done without conscious thought.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Our internal dialogue is what compels us to check the mail, to get up and go somewhere, tells us when we’re hungry, and tells us to or not to workout. Once our internal dialogue puts the thought in our mind, then we sometimes make the conscious choice to do so or not.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Did you know that we have over 60,000 thoughts each day, but only about 10% of them we actually take notice of? But the 90% of these 60,000 thoughts are responsible for the urges to eat when we’re not hungry, to sit instead of stand, and to not be physically active. This is our internal dialogue. And our internal dialogue is produced by our subconscious mind.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>People who are naturally thin have automatic actions that support them being thin. The majority of their internal dialogue or thoughts are in alignment with being thin.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>If the majority of one’s subconscious thoughts aren’t congruent with losing weight, they’ll continue to struggle with their weight. All the dieting and exercise in the world can’t counteract the fact that their subconscious mind has been programmed against it.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>If they do lose weight by dieting and exercise, they’ll unconsciously sabotage their efforts, gain it back and never know why.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Many people say they have an angel and a devil sitting on their shoulders. One tells them to eat that unhealthy food, and one telling them not to. This isn’t a devil and an angel. It’s their conscious mind telling them to stay away from the food because they want to lose weight, but their subconscious mind is telling them not to because it’s been programmed that way.</p>
<p> </p>
<p> Willpower can’t override one’s subconscious mind. If people knew this, they’d finally understand why they can’t lose weight, or why they lose weight and always gain it back.</p>
<p> </p>
<p> By clearing the negative programming in one’s subconscious mind, and conditioning it to lose weight and be healthy, one will take the automatic actions necessary to lose the weight.</p>
<p> </p>
<p> When someone has a job that they thoroughly enjoy doing, they lose track of time. It’s effortless to do it. This is because there’s nothing holding them back. Both aspects of their mind are in harmony and it’s like they’re on autopilot when doing their work. This is how weight loss can be, if there’s no subconscious blocks preventing them from doing it. When both aspects of their mind are in harmony for losing weight, it’ll be effortless. And once something is effortless, it’s done in the easiest and most efficient long term fashion.</p>

<p> They’ll automatically eat less, eat healthier, become more active, and they’ll do so without even thinking about it.</p>
