I get all kinds of people calling me and asking for help to lose weight and get them back on track with their health and fitness. It’s what I do, so it’s not uncommon to have people seek advice and information from me. I’m used to it. Eating in response to emotion, rather than real physical hunger. When you eat in response to real physical hunger, after a certain amount of food, you will eventually feel full. Hypnosis is a word that describes a state of mind that allows new ideas, beliefs, and behaviors to be accepted into a willing participant’s mind without critical or judgmental scrutiny. This lessens the likelihood of rejection. So someone coming to see me, or any experienced and well trained hypnotist, with a desire to lose weight will be guided into this special experience where prior agreed upon suggestions will be presented for acceptance. During this time changes in perceptions will occur. Using emotions to trigger positive responses to the behaviors that produce weight loss will be installed. So that when the client eats the right kind of food in the right proportions they will feel powerful positive feelings. An effective hypnotist will also use emotions to trigger negative responses to the behaviors that have been keeping them fat or contributing to their unhealthy problems. So that when they look at foods they want to avoid they will feel powerful negative feelings that keep them from wanting to indulge in those unhealthy foods and/or behaviors.

Study Results Show Hypnosis Is Effective

There have been many studies that have proven that hypnosis is effective when used to help people lose weight. One of those studies was made by a couple of doctors who used hypnosis successfully and did a review of other weight loss studies involving hypnosis. Their work can be found in Chapter 11, Hypnosis in the Treatment of Nutritional and Dietary Problems. Clinical Hypnosis: Principles and Applications by Harold B. Crasilneck, Ph.D. and James A. Hall., M.D.
According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information of the National Institutes of Health as of December, 2004 there are more than 5,000 clinical research studies having to do with hypnosis and its benefits currently being conducted worldwide. Included in those studies is a study published in the International Journal of Obesity and Related Metabolic Disorders in March of 1998 that concluded that “the use of hypnotherapy, as an adjunct to dietary advice in producing weight loss, has produced a statistically significant result in favour of hypnotherapy.”

I visited my sisters college yesterday for the family tour and a show was presented from a mentalist called Christopher Carter. He seriosly read my mind. we were asked to write 4 things about us on a slip of paper with our names at the top. then a few volunteers collected them. we was double blindfolded and then he picked a slip of paper from the bowl. He said “hm,.,.is their a VP in the room?” and i said “Yes, thats my anitials” he said”is your name victoria?” i said yes, he said “your last name is something like,…parsley” i said “close, its parsloe” then he told me exactly the 4 facts i wrote down! it was amazing! it was that i had stiches on my lip, i play field hockey and my locker combo is P-I-N-E! it was so amazing! i visited his website…
