I have lyme disease and reactive arthritis. I am in terrible pain a great deal of the time, mostly in my back and neck. I have tried narcotics but they don’t work, make me sick, and impair my judgment. My doctor insists that it is mind over matter, but frankly I am sceptical. Many alternative therapies have little evidence to support their efficacy. I know that some people try biofeedback, hypnosis, guided imagery. If I can’t get my pain under control, it will be impossible for me to undergo treatment for lyme disease as it requires high dose antibiotics which cause significant pain during treatment. If you have successfully gotten your pain under control, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Here is a pain management (whoops, relief) hypnosis script. It covers all representational systems:

• visual,
• auditory
• kinesthetic

Use the one or the combination that best fits your client. Create your own tonal shifts where you think they will be most helpful to highlight the embedded commands.

We teach pain management for nurses at our hypnosis workshops in New York at Beth Israel Hospital, and at our hypnosis trainings.

Here is the free hypnosis script:

There are many ways to feel even more comfortable, more relaxed and free of any discomfort. I will give you a lot of different ways to feel better, to change and make more comfortable the places in your body that had pain.

The latest research has proven that the mind can stop the pain signals from getting to the brain. It’s easy for anyone to do. I have helped many people, like you, feel better, and learn to have comfort where they used to have a problem.

One way to easily change sensations is to imagine the area you choose to make feel better as a red spot. Now take a deep comforting breath in and imagine cool, almost icy, air going right to that spot and cooling it down, so it changes color, a lighter shade, like pink.

With each breath in, you cool it down some more, changing it to a paler shade of pink, then cooler, to blue, while exhaling any discomfort right out of your body. That is one way that you can feel more comfort.

Some people like to imagine seeing themselves in a mirror, getting more and more comfortable, as they notice when they look at themselves they can feel free of the discomfort they used to have. Can you see or imagine yourself, over there, in that mirror, looking and feeling better than you have in a long time.

I have helped a lot of people, like you, to change the pain they used to have into a sound. No matter how loud or distracting the sound, they could always turn the volume down. Some turned it down to a low noise that didn’t bother them anymore, while many found it more comforting to just turn the sound off completely.

I don’t know what way will work better for you, that is up to you.

Sometimes you might find it easier to take your mind to an amazing place. A place of comfort, like a vacation, somewhere where you can go, to get away and really relax. Maybe it’s somewhere you have been, somewhere full of happy, pleasant feelings, soothing sounds, fresh scents, that bring you back, to a time, a place, where you felt so good, so free, no worries, no stress, just relaxation and comfort. Maybe you can go somewhere you have never been, imagining how good you can feel, how wonderful it is to be free, to feel totally relaxed in this new place, of comfort. I don’t know where your mind can take you, but I know there has been a time when you felt really good.

Your body can remember how it felt to feel really good, and you might have noticed that when the body remembers a really good feeling, that you can know where in your body that good feeling starts. Some people think it feels wonderful to move that good feeling in little circles, make it spin, and as it spins that good feeling throughout the body, your mind can begin to enjoy moving that spin faster, swirling it around. And as your body begins to remember every good sensation it has ever experienced, every sense of comfort, relaxation, that the body has ever felt, that spin becomes bigger and begins to swirl to those places that need it most. Just good feelings, smoothing over, comforting wherever it moves, because you know how to feel good. Sometimes the mind may forget, but the body knows what comfort feels like.

Sometimes, you might feel even better, adding some laughter into that spin. I don’t know when the last time you laughed, I mean really laughed, was, but I know that the mind can think of the time, a time you just had to laugh out loud. I don’t know what you find funny, maybe a time when you just knew, no matter what you did, you had to let it out, couldn’t help but laugh. Maybe it was at a movie, with a friend or maybe it was even inappropriate laughter. You know what that is, don’t you? Inappropriate laughter, where you just couldn’t control that laugh, that time, when it came out of nowhere and you had to just try to hold it back, but, the laughter came anyway, yes, that kind of laughter, that we all know on some level. They say that laughter heals, and you can feel how that’s true, now, take that feeling, that giggly kind of feeling, and throw that into the spin.

The spin that is swirling good feelings through your body, that’s right, it’s funny, when you think of it, when you realize how powerful you are and how easy you can change sensations in your body, with your mind, now. I know you can feel this good, whenever you need to, it’s easy.

All you have to do, to feel this relaxation, is count, nice and slow, in your mind, from ten down to one, like this; ten, allowing my body to relax, nine, getting even more relaxed, eight, deeper relaxed with each number, seven, every muscle feeling better, six, more and more relaxed, five, so nice, so comfortable, four, deeper and deeper relaxed, three, feeling good, two, feeling better, and one. It doesn’t matter what you say to yourself as you count, just that you know you will feel more and more relaxed with each and every count, every breath will bring more and more comfort…

We teach pain management techniques on our hypnosis training in New York.

I have: 90-degree Scoliosis, Spinal Stenosis (so extensive, docs are shocked I’m not paralyzed!), and multiple Cancers (starting when I was just 8 months-old!). I’ve been thru almost every type of pain management out there: massage, acupuncture, spa therapy, stretching exersizes, muscle relaxers, relaxation techniques, meditation, heat pad, pain clinics, pain medications, and am at the limitations of what my doctor will prescribe. Hope is gone, and I’m seriously thinking about sucide at this point. (Which is hard for me, because of my faith. But when pain consumes your body, IT is in control! I don’t live my life, I survive it! You don’t get by day-by-day, but minute-by-minute!!) I’m tired of suffering like this, and am so desperate I’m researching “out there” pain control methods I’m hearing about, such as: snake venom, cone snail toxin, and hypnosis. ANYone hear about these? Anyone have any helpful suggestions for me?! Please, help me!!!

I am really hoping to be able to give birth without an epidural and if possible, any other medical pain relief. This is my first pregnancy so I have no frame of reference of my own… I just don’t like the idea of the epidural and the possible side effects – also it increases the chances of needing an episiotomy, another thing I really want to avoid if possible. Again, I was reading that natural tears generally heal easier and faster.

I was reading about HypBirth – where you do relaxation exercises that reduce the pain felt during labour. Anyone given birth using any hypnosis techniques? Any opinions on giving birth without pain relief please?

Hypnosis Pain is an informational site covering a wide range of hypnosis topics and offerings, including the Power of Conversational Hypnosis from Igor Ledochowski. Igor Ledochowski became a lawyer after completing his law degree at the University of Exeter and eventually became interested in the power of the mind in general and hypnosis in particular.

Pompano Beach, Florida (PRWeb) June 2009 – Hypnosis Pain is excited to announce its offering of the Power of Conversational Hypnosis Review from Igor Ledochowski. Igor Ledochowski attended law school in Europe and eventually became a lawyer. Over time, Igor Ledochowski became interested in the powers of the mind and studied hypnosis under several leading hypnotists including John LaValle, Stephen Gilligan and Richard Bandler. In 2003 Igor Ledochowski published his first book on the subject of hypnosis.

Most people believe hypnosis is something that can only be practiced by a trained professional, when in fact there are several techniques that the average person can employ alone, without professional help.

These self-induced hypnosis techniques include the use of CDs and DVDs and are often used as a method of relaxation. In addition, there are self-hypnosis techniques that don’t require the use of a CD or DVD. Regardless of the technique one uses, it is vitally important that the information is acquired by a reliable and qualified source like the American Hypnosis Association or the National Guild of Hypnotists.

In addition to using hypnosis for relaxation purposes, it has also been used to alleviate pain and to lose weight. Hypnosis can also be used to improve conversation methods, which is covered in The Power of Conversational Hypnosis, found at Hypnosis Pain.

Hypnosis Pain is designed to provide information on a variety of hypnosis topics for those interested in hypnosis as a method of relaxation, to use as a stage skill, to alleviate pain, to lose weight, or to improve conversation methods.

Hypnosis Pain is excited to offer among its resources the Power of Conversational Hypnosis Review from Igor Ledochowski.

I have seen every specialist in the health care system, tried more kinds of pain medications than I can count. I exercise. Have had xrays, MRI’s, CT Scans, and lab tests done. Have tried Chiropractic care, TENS unit, massage, heat, ice, accupuncture, reflexology, relaxation techniques, vitamins, natural medications sold in health food stores, hypnosis, and prayer. I am only 51 y/o and have no quality of life. This is not where I saw myself being at my age. The dozens of doctors I’ve seen over the years either don’t care enough to get to the root of the problem – or don’t want to take the time necessary to get to the root of the problem because my insurance is an HMO, and we all know they don’t pay the doctors as much as they feel they are worth. At my wit’s end! Is there anyone out there who knows how to get me beyond this degree of pain? There will be no more doctors or tests for me, so I’m reaching out to my fellow human beings. Help me please!

Can you rapidly stop bleeding or eliminate pain using one and only the sound of your voice? If not, carry on reading. The use of Waking Hypnosis ought to be included as a required skill for all medical and dental practitioners. The National Institutes of Health public entrance database of hypnosis-related investigation is quiet clear which hypnosis is indicated for the service of acute and chronic pain and for accelerating healing. Pain Hypnosis

Therefore, physicians and dentists need practical and rapid hypnosis methods. However, ever since 1958 when the American Medical Association voted for hypnosis as part of treatment plans, popular techniques have too often consisted of lengthy, cost-prohibitive methods. Seemingly the only answer was to employ the services of a competently trained hypnotherapist or to totally forego this wonderful alternative. Pain Hypnosis

In contrast, Waking Hypnosis is a powerful and normal technique, which nearly always becomes the same outcomes as more and more hypnosis protocols, but during seconds or minutes. When used up by the non-hypnotherapist clinician, it can be a valuable program that will enhance their healing abilities. Over 11,000 research articles indexed by the NIH have consistently demonstrated the efficacy of hypnosis in a clinical setting. While the preponderance of articles discuss its use in the treatment of pain (e.g., acute, chronic, cancer, dental, OB/GYN, etc), applications for anxiety (e.g., treatment anxiety, pre and post surgical) are also indicated. Pain Hypnosis

Additionally, there are some very interesting studies showing the acceleration of wound healing and the elimination of dermatological disorders when hypnosis is used. I have found that these same techniques can be used in such a simple process as reducing non-arterial bleeding. (This is great for emergency situations.) While some ill-informed professionals often use the phrase “it’s all in their mind”, I have found that respecting the mind/body relationship is a vital part of the healing process. Pain Hypnosis

The problem with normal hypnosis techniques, to include lengthy guided imagery, is that they often are not appropriate for clinical settings. Either the patient needs quick relief or the overhead-related constraints prohibit the additional time that it takes to create a hypnotic trance and then to do the appropriate therapy prior to a procedure being performed. This is where Waking Hypnosis comes in. Learn to Exceed Your Expectations.
Pain is described as an annoying feeling that can range from slight, localized soreness to unrelenting torment. This feeling includes both physical and emotional aspects. It often results in a lack of zest and energy. Sufferers report feeling exhausted and emotionally miserable. These sensations can create difficulties with professional, private, and personal relationships.

When injury occurs, the body discharges chemicals that signal the brain that something is wrong. The brain understands this alarm as pain, and informs the body of the injury. The individual then reacts to the painful signal, and acts to resolve it. Many times, however, the body sends a warning of pain when no injury has occurred. This can occur when the sensation has an emotional, rather than an actual, cause.

One method of relieving painful feelings is through the use of medications. Non-narcotic medications, such as Tylenol or Aspirin, prevent the body from discharging messages used to notify the brain of physical injury. Narcotic drugs, in comparison, attach to cells in the brain and tell them that the issue has been addressed. Narcotics, like morphine and codeine, may often be very addictive and cause dependence problems in those individuals who use them for a long time as pain management techniques.

The body also releases substances known as endorphins. These are Nature’s painkillers, released by the brain’s cells to fool the body into thinking that it does not hurt. Runners, for example, release endorphins when they run long distances; this chemical causes the “runner’s high” many athletes report experiencing. People who like to participate in strenuous exercise have the same endorphin high. Often, sports professionals have been able to run or play in spite of pain because of the existence of these endorphins in their bodies.

Clients frequently experience relief through the use of hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic programming approaches. These natural pain relief methods can allow people to obtain relief from a lot of long-term problems, like migraines and other frequent, debilitating headaches or throbbing neck pain. A large number of people can significantly decrease, or completely eradicate using medicines by using these strategies.

Traditional hypnosis pain alleviation strategies work most effectively for those who are open to post-hypnotic suggestions. A professional hypnotherapist assists the client to enter a deep state of relaxation. During this time, the client is intensely aware of the strategies being offered by the professional.

The hypnotherapist may suggest that the client focus on other activities or tasks, and that distraction will diminish any feeling of unease. Actually, the mere use of the word discomfort during a hypnotherapy session instead of the use of the word pain can radically diminish any feeling of pain. Many clients get amazing results, and they can be assisted to practice self-hypnosis for pain relief to gain personal control of their situations.

More analytical individuals most often require either Erickson-based hypnosis or NLP to overcome their conscious resistance to suggestion.

The hypnosis strategy for pain treatment can also be employed to teach the brain to release endorphins which can cause light anesthesia, sometimes known as analgesia. This state may be used to assist women to experience natural childbirth without the use of drugs that may cause harm to the baby. It also can help provide natural arthritis pain relief in chronic sufferers.

Hypnosis also can be used to cause a state of complete anesthesia in a percentage of the population. This is referred to in medical literature as hypnoanesthesia. In days before general anesthesia became popularly available to patients, many doctors performed major surgery using hypnoanesthesia.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) may be used to treat those persons who think critically and analytically. Professionals aid clients to master a very beneficial technique used by NLP, known as the ‘Flash’. The Flash permits clients to teach their unconscious minds to automatically avoid a painful feeling, and to focus on thoughts that will offer peace and comfort. Clients who have perfected this approach discover that they are no longer capable of focusing on their pain, because their thoughts instantly replace it for thoughts that produce comfort.

Both NLP and hypnosis are new treatments that offer completely natural strategies for relieving pain. They aid people to avoid painkillers or reduce their dependence on these medications. Both persons who easily receive suggestions and people who are analytical thinkers can benefit from these program formats. Furthermore, both are greatly beneficial in helping people to experience relief from their pain.

Today, many ways exist to receive this type of therapy. Trained therapists routinely charge between $150.00 and $200.00 hourly. Any person who has tried this treatment approach this type of therapy can verify that the cost involved was certainly worth paying. A less expensive course of treatment, however may be purchasing one of the high quality hypnosis CD courses that are available for purpose.
