“You Are Falling Asleep” – Using Hypnosis to Cure Insomnia

Ask anyone to pretend to be a hypnotist and you can be fairly certain that they’ll look you in the eyes and say (possibly in a foreign accent!) “You are falling asleep”. Although a hypnotic trance is not actually a form of sleep, it is a very similar state. And because of its ability to induce deep relaxation, hypnosis can be a very effective treatment for insomnia.

Insomnia has a wide variety of causes (for example anxiety, pain, and some medications) but it may also occur for no reason at all. Inability to sleep, in these cases, is just a habit. It may have started at a time when the patient was anxious about something and the insomnia may have added to the anxiety. So, even when the original cause has been resolved, the insomnia continues – the insomnia causes anxiety which causes insomnia. If this vicious circle can be broken, the patient will once again be able to sleep normally and, in this sort of case, hypnosis can produce dramatic results. The relaxation it produces will help to relieve the anxiety. And the therapist may give post-hypnotic suggestions that, even if the patient doesn’t sleep very much, he or she will not feel exhausted during the day – which is perfectly possible because a lot of the exhaustion is due to the anxiety and the resulting muscle tension.

Hypnosis to cure my phobia: fear of medicine?

I recently developed a fear of taking medications of any kind for no apparent reason. If I have to take one, I inevitably end up having a panic attack from thinking too much about how I’ve never tried it before and I could be allergic or I could have a potentially fatal reaction to it, etc. My mind just won’t stop having these terrible thoughts and I can’t seem to be able to control them. It’sbeen so out of control, I ended up in the ER twice these past 2 months. I’m thinking about trying hypnosis so that hopefully my brain can associate safe thoughts with medicine that is prescribed to me instead of uncontrollable fear. Has anyone ever tried to get over a phobia through hypnosis? Does it work? What’s the process like?

Can self hypnosis cure ADD in adults?

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with it? I cant afford a session with an actual hypnotist, and I have a book on hypnosis/self hypnosis, granted its the Complete Idiots version, but its still real resourceful. If anyone has had good success with this, can you help me with a script? Thanks.
Guess I shouldve been alot more specific, thats my bad. I didnt mean cure like actually cure ADD, I meant can hypnosis help aid those with ADD. In the way that prescription drugs would, only without having to take the drugs.

Im not a fan of drugs, wether it be legal or not, unless its an herb or something like the Chinese and Indians used, so Im trying to go with hypnosis to help me study and learn and remember what I learn. Thanks.

I’m pretty sure I have Social Anxiety Disorder. I don’t have the money to get a proper diagnosis, but it can’t possibly be anything else. It makes life…existence…a nightmare. How can I get rid of the fear of being around people? Is there a drug that can do this, without making me dopey? Or, is there some self-hypnosis that can help?

There’s nothing worse than having to get up in the morning after a sleepless night, trying to go about your day to day tasks, feeling as if you are running on an empty tank; you can’t think straight, your body feels heavy and all you want to do is curl up in a ball and sleep.  And yet, by the time darkness falls, your body seems to waken up and you just know that yet another sleepless night awaits you.  A self-fulfilling prophesy then ensues.
