self hypnosis question?
yeah i wanted to use self hpnosis to try and help motivate me to study more. I have a terrible habbit of procrastinating sadly.
I’ve looked up about self hypnosis etc, and the good thing is, (kinda) i cnan put myself into a trance state fairly easily, and i’m a fairly suggestable person (ok not a god thing for general life, but i suppose its good for self hypnosis)
Anyway, as well as that i was going to try the sleep thing also, listening to a script or phrase over and over as i slep kinda. Just trying to think of what a good phrase would be.
So far i know of 2 rules for it, “must be positive” “Must be simple”
As stated i’m trying to motivate myself to study more / harder. Also if i have any of my above info wrong feel free to let me know.

Don’t confuse suggestibility with weak minded. Suggestibility is not that. Think of it as “suggested willingness.” Any suggestion you receive, you have a choice to accept or deny in every day to day life, and even when in a state of hypnosis. Hypnosis is not mind control.
When forming suggestions, you’ve mentioned two of the important things. Here are a few others.
Plausible: the suggestion you give must be in fact doable. Hypnotizing yourself with the expectation that will be able to life a car over your head isn’t plausible.
Pleasant: Make sure it is going to be pleasant to you. If your suggesting “Every time I don’t study, I’ll feel a thwap on the back of my head to motivate me.” This is something that isn’t pleasant to you and will likely breed resentment and invoke a rebel response.
WITFM/Buy in: What is going to get you to buy into your goal? In other words, “What’s in it for me?” What are the benefits your going to get when you accomplish your goal? For your example, better grades, less stress, improved self-esteem, better time managment skills, better productivity, etc.
Also be very careful of the wording you use (this falls in the keep it positive) Be sure to take in account for hidden meaning behind words and expectations that are included with those words.
Quit smoking -not a good phrase, no one likes a quitter, become a non-smoker.
Losing weight – we have a natural response when we lose something, and that is to find it again (aka rollercoaster weight.) Instead, manage your weight, or discard excess weight. Now, do you wonder why advertisers sell weight-loss products over weight management products? Makes you go Hmmmm.
Those are some of the other things I would think about. If your finding difficultly in keeping things short, there’s nothing saying that you can’t make a recording and play that for when your ready for your suggestions. This way you don’t need to think about what you want to suggest, and you can just accept the suggestions you’ve already prepared.
Your on the right path.
