To be in your third year of study I assume that you are in college, which means that you should have your grammar and spelling classes out of the way. OK.
You need a few more years of study before concerning yourself with hypnosis. If your professors think that you are ready, then they will recommend the proper learning text. Hypnosis can be a dangerous practice and you need more training than just reading a book. Ask a professor and get some good feedback.
Roy Hunter’s The Art of Hypnosis: Mastering Basic Techniques is well regarded and I personally found it useful. This just covers the process of hypnosis. If you want to learn about what to do next, then Kevin Hogan’s Hypnotherapy Handbook is useful. If you are thinking of doing this professionally, I’d strongly recommend going on a proper training course with at least 120 hours of classroom training.
I’ve put Roy Hunter’s FAQ link in the sources – this has many useful answers.
