Hypnosis vs. Religion?
Hello, I have recently gotten into hypnosis a lot. I know how to do it and everything. The only problem is is that I’m not sure how well it stands with religion. I’m a foursquare Christian. Most people see it as mind control. Scary evil spirit possesed stuff. In fact, it is a way to redirect the mind in a hightened relaxed state that makes someone suscestable to suggestion. I could use this how doctors use medications, to heal people. The mind is a creation of God. So anything that you can do with it is glorifying Him and His creation in all of its uses. At least, I think that’s right. Like, I could hypnotize them, help them with scratchy throat, and say something like “Your mind is a powerful tool. It has healed you. But guess who made your brain? God. Thank Him, cause he gets all the credit.”. What are your thoughts?
Haha, that’s very interesting. Let me rephrase: I am staying in school, but I have gotten used to texting. I’ll be more formal if that’s what you’d like. I have hypnotized people before, and it DOES WORK!!! I want to help people with it. Yes, I will look into NLP. I was thinking that maybe a psychology class would be a good idea too, since all of this has to deal with the mind.

Hypnosis and religion are the same thing.
if you are not convicted about it then you are good .. dont expect others to not be offended though ..
Hypnosis is not real. Neither is mind control. I would love to see someone try to hypnotize me. I would just laugh at them.
There are things such as placebo effect in which one’s mind could trick them into thinking they are healed but it does not go much farther then that.
Hypnotism is in no way mind control. You cannot make anyone do anything they don’t want to do under hypnosis. We hypnotize ourselves all the time. That’s what “zoning out” is.
The people against it have no understanding of it, and don’t try to understand it.
BTW, it’s interesting that you think mind control is bad, yet what you propose to do with hypnotism is an attempt at mind control. Trying to trick people into your religion, that’s disgusting.
Yes, the religious sheep are easily hypnotized by the hypnotic preaching and chanting that goes on with religion.
Hypnosis has been debunked. It doesn’t work. people play along with the person doing it so they don’t feel like failures. If you “know how to do it,” then you know this already. It’s about as valid as a psychic or an Ouija board. Not at all valid. Check out Penn and Teller’s Bullshit series on it to see for yourself.
Stick to things that you can actually be successful at, Jacob. You should work on your spelling and sentence structure – it sucks.
Interesting but I’ll guess that most knowledgeable Christian will disagree. Pastors and teachers alike will say that it opens the mind to demon possession. I actually don’t know. I’m not sure whether the Bible talks about it in any form. I’ll ask around.
You need serious guidance.
I’m here thanx to my parents. I’d have to thank them for my brains (and education)
You’re contradicting yourself regarding *mind control* and your *intent*
*rolls eyes* what a post
I studied hypnotherapy a while back and I had the same questions you do. I believe that if you and the person you are working with are both seeking good things out of it I personally don’t see a problem. I do believe that you need to be careful uncovering repressed memories that can be real traumatic for a person to go through it. Start in to things easy and build your skills and I would definitely study more in to neuro linguistic programing. I feel this is something you could help teach people to do on their own and it would take a lot of the fear out of the way. Good luck and God Bless.
