Is self control proven to exist? Please, experts only.
If so what are some scientific methods to develop it and improve it?
Besides I would like to know what are some of the differences between impulse control, and mental control? or is self hypnosis the best way to control oneself. Have you ever experimented with your mind? I am sorry for putting all these questions, answer the ones you like. I would like to know once and for all everything about this subject.
Please make answers that are backed by facts. I think I would choose as the best answer one containing words like neuroimaging, brain, etc.
Finally, I don’t know where it would be better to put this question. Should I put it here in medicine or in psychology? Well, that’s it.

this stuff is so confusing can some one explain what this all is. so basically we are made out of small atoms and some say that our thoughts can control our atoms? i have no idea lol please help

James Kellogg, master hypnotist came to our school today. I was chosen to be one of 12 subjects. Out of 12 subjects, I was only 2 out of 12 who were not put under hypnosis. He told me thanks for trying…and made me go back to the audience. Do you think it’s bad if you can’t be put in a state of hypnosis. The other 10 people were doing everything he said. I don’t know….but I think I’d rather have someone not be able to control my mind. I heard about 20% of adults are unable to be hypnotized, 15% are highly hypnotizable, and the rest fall in the middle.

I have lyme disease and reactive arthritis. I am in terrible pain a great deal of the time, mostly in my back and neck. I have tried narcotics but they don’t work, make me sick, and impair my judgment. My doctor insists that it is mind over matter, but frankly I am sceptical. Many alternative therapies have little evidence to support their efficacy. I know that some people try biofeedback, hypnosis, guided imagery. If I can’t get my pain under control, it will be impossible for me to undergo treatment for lyme disease as it requires high dose antibiotics which cause significant pain during treatment. If you have successfully gotten your pain under control, I would appreciate hearing from you.

I was told In New York, there are some people are good at hypnosis. they come to you, and talk to you, then they control you mind. You even give your money. This is real, or again, the newspaper published “story”

Poor American youths, if your mind doesn’t have the ability to control your body then at least do not sell it to the evil. If you are confused and don’t know who to listen then at least keep your body and soul to yourself and don’t sell them to the authority. If you are too youth to understand the power of the mind, NLP, Propaganda, hypnosis, psychology and many more… then at least do not make a complicated decision until you are 30. The politic and religion and science are not some things for the young adults to judge; it is because you don’t have the ability to judge, analyzed, and make a final decision to believe in them or to against them.
Do not leave your home until you are fully grow up and have the knowledge to fit in the society, it is because those old veterans out there are 100 times smarter than you think they are. Their power of suggestions can own you without your even notice. The world is not as simple as you think; just like most 10 years old boy think “if any one pissed me off than I will slice their throat.” The older you get and the more you learn then you will see that the world getting more and more interesting everyday and you will thanks god that you didn’t destroy your body and soul.

I’m at a party talking to this older man, I want to tell him something he calls his wife over who stands close to me. I stare at them, I cant focus on them, i try to recall my story but my mind is a jumble. I mumble but it sounds incoherent, I try to finish my sentences but I cant. My head gets heavier and heavier. I am sort of conscious – my eyes are closed and I let my head drop so my chin is down. I hear the guy say “I’m getting a drink”. He proceeds to say “Take her over……” but he doesn’t finish his sentence. My eight year old daughter bolts from the kids room (Its a family party, Im there with my kids) and throws herself at me which jolts me awake and I stare at my smiling loving 8 year old daughters face and I am SO happy to see her and filled with joy, she whispers “mummy”. The guy stomps off muttering, and the woman looks alarmed and steps back. What is this? I wasn’t drinking, or taking an prescribed drugs or any illegal ones I don’t do that. I know this guy and there is something odd about him. Can anyone help me. What happened? I’ve read about people using mind control techniques to manipulate women or compromise them in he bedroom – is this possible. This is a genuine question, I’m very upset about it, I cant remember a lot. I lost time, I had to ask my children the precise times. I remember that the sensation was like sinking into a black abyss, going deeper and deeper. I thought fleetingly about my ex partners name then another fleeting question – who is he. And me I had to ask who am i? By then it was easier not to fight but to drop my head with eyes closed. I could hear noises about me and the guys’ voice. I was very tired after I walked away. My daughter just said she felt she should go and get me. I have no mental health issues, work professionally, live normally.
I felt quite vulnerable the next day but could recall the process and remember feeling blank minded eyes closed.

Does anyone out there think that hypnois is sexy and erotic? I find that I am turned on, not by the mind control that the hypnotist has, but the idea of a beautiful girl beingn slowly lulled to sleep. Is that normal?

I dont need breast augmentation hypnosis to make my boobs bigger or anything, i like what i have. I do wonder though about the concept behind breast augmentation hypnosis. I do believe are mind has a certain control over our body, even though it may be limited. I dont think it is limited to the possibility of say growing fuller breasts, or fuller lips, or growing taller. I want to do a few things with my physical feautures with hypnosis, very subtle things. Does anyone know, and im really talking about professional hypnotists answering, if you can use hypnosis to make your eyes wider apart, or to get a less bumpy nose, or fuller lips, or nicer skin or anything like that on the face?

I have to do a persuasive speech over something for my speech class and this speech is one of the more important ones. So for a topic, I thought I’d help define to everyone the truths about hypnosis, instead of the beliefs that are instilled in them through the media and other sorts. Is this a good idea?

The logic behind this is quite simple. People in society today tend to think that hypnosis is something like the dracula movies, or the cartoons where everyone is controlled. There is this belief that if you fall into a trance, you are being mind controlled.
