How do I find a hypnotist that is not a quack?

I’ve been to a ‘hypnotist’ before and all he had was anice voice. He didn’t ‘do’ anything for me. I didn’t even ‘go under’. It was pathetic. I’d like to try hypnosis for an anxiety problem that I have, but I want a legitimate hypnotist this time. Please can someone tell me how to find one.

Can anyone suggest some help for anxiety..?

I have mild depression, and anxiety that stems from irrational thoughts. I see a therapist once a week, and I am on the lowest dose (150mg) of Wellbutrin SR, once a day. The low dose of Wellbutrin, plus the therapy once a week have helped dramatically, but I still have a bit of trouble with the anxiety. While it’s not as bad as it was a couple months ago, I still find myself on edge and worried about irrational things quite often. I have close friends to talk to, a great supportive family, and I love where I’m at in my life, but I feel like this kind of cloud of anxiety that hangs out in the back of my mind is keeping me from being as happy as possible.
I also do self talk and deep breathing exercises, but they are not getting rid of the problem. I am ok with having some anxiety about giving a presentation or something normal, I know that that will never go away, but I can’t stand constantly worrying that some catastrophe is going to happen (the irrational thoughts).
So basically the question is…has anyone ever tried hypnosis for anxiety? I thought maybe it would help if when hypnotized, someone told me that my fears/worry were not real.
Has anyone done anything else that’s completely resolved their anxiety that I am not doing (self talk, exercise, music, writing, praying, therapy, staying busy with things I like, supportive friends and family, Wellbutrin, deep breathing)? I’d like to try to avoid increasing the meds, so any other suggestions would be great!

I would really appreciate real answers, and will definitely give 10 points to anyone who can suggest something from experience that really helped them, or can answer my questions about hypnotherapy.
Also, please no rude or stupid answers (ie: calm down, chill out).

Top 6 Ways To Treat Anxiety Symptoms

If your anxiety symptoms are taking over your life, especially at critical moments, you have probably considered ways to manage your anxiousness. Here is a brief run-down of various methods you can use, so you can better select the best way to address your anxiety attack symptoms. Dealing with Anxiety Attack Symptoms 1. Medicine It is possible to get prescription drugs that alleviate anxiety, as well as non-prescription, relatively mild products that address anxiety symptoms. However, there are some risks associated with medication, such as side effects and dependency. 2. Exercise Regular exercise helps to work off excess energy and tension. It also gives the person a feeling of accomplishment, particularly if they notice a marked improvement in their health, energy level, and appearance. Both anxiety and anxiety symptoms are, to an extent, addressed. 3. Relaxation/Meditation Many people conflate meditation and relaxation with exercise. However, meditative disciplines, such as yoga, are often much more than the assuming of various postures. They also involve a great deal of mental concentration and discipline. The focusing techniques you can learn in yoga can go a great deal towards freeing you from symptoms of mild anxiety attacks and other anxiety stress. Instead of letting small worries blow up into big, overwhelming issues, you can teach yourself to concentrate on what is truly important. 4. Deep Breathing This particular method definitely dovetails with meditation. After all, you probably know that breathing exercises form an integral part of yoga at all levels. However, it is possible to practice deep breathing exercises without necessarily learning mental exercises or philosophy. This could be a good option for people who do not believe that the meditative philosophies presented to them match well with their own belief system, but would still like to tackle their anxiety disorder symptoms. 5. Herbal Therapy Many cultures around the world have developed traditional herbal remedies going back hundreds of years. The European Wiccan tradition has survived to some extent. The Indian Ayurvedic system is perhaps much older and more organized. Herbs can be “taken” in a variety of ways. You can eat them, drink tea made from them, or inhale smoke from burned or smoked herbs. In some cases, you can procure doses easily. You might grow your own herbs, or buy products from your local aromatherapy shop. In other cases, such as in traditional Chinese medicine, a prescription from an expert is required. As with deep breathing, however, it often treats the anxiety symptoms, but not the underlying psychological and emotional roots of anxiety. 6. Therapy You may go for sessions with a psychiatrist and/or support group. Such sessions may be costly, particularly if you rely mainly on one-on-one sessions. However, they can go a long way towards locating, deconstructing, and dissecting the conscious and sub-conscious roots of your anxiety, not just your anxiety depression symptoms. Therapy might also help you uncover other underlying disorders and issues that are related to your anxiety. Hypnosis may or may not play a part in your therapy sessions. However, do be aware that therapy does place you in the hands of another person. Make sure that your therapist has a very good reputation and trustworthy ethics.

Would hypnosis be recommended?

I currently suffer from shyness, brushing, and/or social anxiety. I have tried be more social and it helped but no matter what I do it still linger within. So seeing how its all mental wouldn’t it be logical to try hypnosis? I know of a website already that offers hypnosis and would like to know, honestly, if it works. I am not going to pay for this and it not work. And I can’t see a professional hypnotist there are none where I live. So has anyone had this done and it doing what it claims or should I just pass on it?

Natural ways are the best ways to treat anxiety. Treatments other than using drugs should be found by you as much as possible. Hypnotherapy is one of the natural ways for treating anxiety. Hypnotherapy is used to make your mind more relaxed. For creation of mood which is completely relaxed, thoughts which are positive are brought subconsciously. This treatment reportedly has no side effects as there are no chemicals or substances brought into the body.

Additionally, for relieving anxiety, hypnosis functions as an important factor for bringing in changes which results in relieving overall mental stress. People who have already undergone this treatment say that they desire to have diet which is healthy and they also want to exercise. Anxiety can be completely removed or minimized by hypnotherapy; this gives the person a positive frame of mind in which the person wants to live.

Herbal remedies are also an approach which is useful in the treatment of anxiety. The drugs made by man have side effects which are of serious and critical nature, whereas herbs mostly have effects which soothe the mind. Chamomile, kava kava, St. John’s Wort as well as ginseng are some of the herbs commonly used to treat anxiety.

A diet which is healthy and exercise of physical nature also helps in treating anxiety and these have no bad effects. When there is imbalance of bio-chemicals in the brain, anxiety is caused. Chemicals which are synthetic are used by the doctors mostly to cure it. Exercise done regularly and having healthy diet is the best way to treat anxiety, this is however suggested by history.

To start with the treatment of anxiety, having healthy diet consisting of fruits and vegetables is very good. You should also put an effort to completely eliminate consumption of toxins such as nicotine and caffeine. These have proved to be the major causes of hypertension and also increase the chances of getting prone to the disease. There is an improvement in circulation and also the digestive system becomes stronger by regular exercise.

Breathing techniques are useful in facing anxiety. Anxiety symptoms can be greatly reduced by the exercise program having breathing techniques. Cardio and yoga are the best anti anxiety exercises. Jogging, walking and cycling are helpful in reducing anxiety. Natural herbs and supplements are other remedies.

Fish oil is also useful for the treatment of anxiety. Vitamin B also helps you reduce the stress. Vitamin D is also beneficial as most of the Americans have vitamin D deficiency. Above were the best and simple ways of overcoming anxiety. By this, we can conclude that natural remedies or natural treatment is any time better than the treatment done by drugs, which may have side effects, where as herbal and natural treatments have no side effects, and they are useful in soothing the mind and also helpful in creating positivity.
