When you smoke, you have many restrictions as to wher you can smoke. Restaurants and other public buildings no longer tolerate smoking. It takes a toll on your health with cancers and COPD increasing when cigarette smoking increases. However, even though you think that quitting the habit is a good idea, the thought of quitting is stressful.

I have been told that hypnosis really helps with anxiety disorders such as fear of leaving home and panic attacks. I have both of these problems and would like to know if it helps:)

Depression is the reaction to having lost something that was considered important. The roots lie in the past. For example, you can lose someone you love deeply and that can produce depression. On the other hand, if you lost ten cents and that was all the money you had in the world, that can equally produce depression.
Anxiety, on the other hand, is a fear of the future, whether known or unknown. For example, awakening in the morning and feeling fear in the pit of your stomach and yet having no idea why. Or, it could be a feeling of fear prior to making a speech to a small group of family members at a dinner party. Either way, that is anxiety.

I am 33 and single, and am still generally too shy to approach women in most situations, unless they are introduced to me. I have only had a few girlfriends over the course of my life and I am tired of being single. Would self-hypnosis be an effective way of reducing my social anxiety? My buddies all tell me to just “suck it up and go talk to such and such girl” but my buddies are all naturally outgoing and I don’t think they understand or appreciate how hard it is for me to do.
